Wow, what a night!! Friday night I was on Thom Hartmann‘s great television show as a member of a panel to discuss several topics. Check out the video above. My segment on The Big Picture Rumble starts at the 4 minute and 18 second mark!

One of the two radical right-wing panel members insisted on lying throughout the show. He lied about healthcare. He lied about progressives. He lied about the teabaggers. And he lied in a particularly arrogant, Washington superior, condescending way.

I tried politely, but firmly to set him straight. He looked at me like I was a piece of trash.

But when he just made up lies about the United Automobile Workers, the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tenn, and whether workers in America should have the same right to organize and bargain collectively as workers in Germany, I just lost it.

I called him a liar and a fool for repeatedly showing his ignorance and arrogance and total lack of integrity. I told him he had just made stuff up to cover his ignorance.

In our ongoing discussion of progressive values, my friend, radio host, and poet John Case has said one of the values that we hold dear is integrity while the radical right-wing mocks the truth and lies continually and comfortably with no compunction.

John Case is right. How often have we seen the Ted Cruz’s and Dick Cheneys and George Bushes lie casually and comfortably as if the truth were an inconvenience?

One of the topics that came up Friday night that I’ve written about, but haven’t written enough about is the horrible Trans Pacific Partnership. The TPP is a terrible trade deal being fashioned by the Financial Elite to speed the global race to the bottom in America, Asia, and around the globe. One of the most unbelievable facts about it is that while our own Congress can’t see the text being negotiated, 700 corporate leaders have access to it. The TPP must be stopped right now.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
