Instead of justifying why they voted against cloture on President Obama's nominees to the DC U.S. Court of appeals, Republicans are once again projecting their faults onto the Democrats after they invoked the nuclear option to end the tyranny of the filibuster on Presidential nominees.
Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called the move a "power grab" by Democrats, when in reality it is the Republican Senate minority, under his leadership, that made the power grab by obstructing President Obama's nominees in unprecedented numbers.
McConnell's spokesperson says "stacking the courts", when it is Republicans that were trying to frack the DC U.S. Court of Appeals by preventing President Obama from possibly changing the balance of power on the court with any of the 3 vacancies that was evenly split at 8.
Sen. Rand Paul whined about needing bullying protection from the horrible nasty no good majority, when the reality is the Republican minority are the rude kids in the back of the classroom who bully the other kids and disrupt the teacher by keeping all the well-qualified, uncontroversial nominees off the DC Court of Appeals.
Sen. David Vitter called the filibuster reform "scary and dictatorial", where it's really the behavior of Republicans to prevent a twice Democratically elected President from appointing the judges and executives that we elected him to nominate.
Even Speaker Boehner got in on it, saying that we just wanted to change the subject away from the horrible Obamacare, when in reality it is the GOP who want to change the subject from their ridiculous, irresponsible and unpatriotic government shutdown and debt ceiling terrorism to over-inflated Obamacare scare stories.
I certainly haven't seen a response from them on why these nominees were so controversial that they voted to filibuster them? Why? They had the solution to this draconian action at their fingertips. Vote for cloture. Let the nominees get an up or down vote. No filibuster reform. Why? Why these nominees?
Until the GOP answers these questions, the media needs to not let them talk about anything else. Stop letting them try to play the victim. To most of us, they just come off like the wicked witch.
