Politics » Dem state senator says Utahns are ready for change in Washington: “We can do better.”

Democratic state Sen. Luz Robles will challenge Republican U.S. Rep. Chris Stewart for the state’s 2nd Congressional District seat, saying Utahns are tired of gridlock in Washington and want a change.
"I think we can do better and I think there is the potential to bring different voices and representation and bring more of what Utah is all about and the working class in Utah is all about," Robles said Friday in an interview. "I think my record speaks for itself in the Legislature. I’m very much in the middle. I focus on issues of veterans, immigration and education that are pertinent to all Americans."
Robles plans to officially kick off her campaign at an event at the Capitol next week.
Also, Kirk Powers of the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics believes Luz Robles may very well be a credible candidate:

Kirk Jowers, head of the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics, said Stewart "has done a good job at being a solid member of Congress without giving people any reason to vote against him."
Jowers said even though Robles faces "an incredibly tough, uphill fight," he couldn't imagine a better Democratic candidate.
"She is not a sacrificial lamb and I think the race will be far more interesting than Republicans want," he said, especially if she is able to meet her fundraising goal of $1 million.
"I think that would be a jaw-dropping total for her and it would certainly make the race that much more competitive. I think if she raises a half million dollars, it makes her a very credible candidate."
In case you didn't catch the satirical quote making fun of Glenn Beck and Chris Stewart's relationship earlier, this video might give you some insight as to what the quote is getting at:
