this "holiday" has been corrupted and has become a festival of gluttony followed by a festival of greed...
no thank you.
I'll not be at black Friday sale as I have discovered over the years stuff does not bring happiness. The desire for stuff seems to create a lot of unhappiness for many and if the news is accurate leads to fights shootings arrests... It has ultimately put us on a suicidal path that most do not seem to see.
I went for a long bicycle ride to clear my mind and as a reminder to live with gratitude.
I am thankful for that ride and the beauty of the day.
I am thankful for the time with my family hosting them for dinner.
I am thankful to see the world in a clear flexible way.
I think that we are heading for great trouble if we do not wake up and really focus on the idea of sustainability. This concept has become very important to me as it applies at so many levels.
Is what your doing as an individual sustainable?
Is your relationship sustainable?
Is the community you live in existing in a sustainable way?
Is the world as a whole on a sustainable path?
What does it mean if we live in ways that are not sustainable?
Things will change, they always change as what is not sustainable cannot by definition continue indefinitely. How and when will this change occur? It seems to be getting closer and closer this day of reckoning. When I look into the future I see increasing difficulty providing enough food and water for large populations. this will most likely be a result of the increasing impact of climate change as it begins to impact weather patterns and lead to sea level rises that will displace millions. It could be due to a pandemic or wars as people begin to fight for less and less resources.
In biology it has been proven time and time again that any time a species over populates it reaches a point where the demand or resources can no longer be sustained and there is a population correction. It is close now.
This is why it has become very important to me to live with gratitude. No of us is really ever sure how many moments we get so I will try to appreciate each moment as I have it. When I think of this it becomes apparent to me how little stuff really matters once I have the basics covered.
In that spirit I really like this quote from on of my favorite blogs:

Need Little - Want Less - Love More
