In yet another anti-terrorism "success" the FBI has arrested a man who was under "investigation."
Yes, the scare quotes may be a bit much, but it's hard to take these supposed successes seriously when the explosives and the plans for the attacks are both provided by the FBI. The MO is always similar. Find someone with radical tendencies, be it a Muslim, Right Winger, or Anarchist, and provide them with the logistics to carry out an attack, often including monetary assistance, provide them with a fake bomb, and then arrest them for planning an attack.
The use of informants in the Cleveland Four case is very informative. These young men were groomed by a paid FBI informant, despite the constant claim that the Feds never targeted occupy. The imformant provided them a place to live, jobs, and the entire material requirements as well as logistics for the plan that they were to execute.
The majority of "terror attacks" that have been supposedly stopped in the past decade or so have been of the same sort. The FBI is ginning up terrorists and providing them with plans and other logistics to entrap them. Since they use paid informants to do the actual work of entrapment it isn't legally entrapment, but for all practical purposes it is exactly the same.
Another example of this is Jeremy Hammond. He was convicted and sentenced to ten years of prison for supposedly using credit cards that an FBI informant had provided to a large group of hackers. Again and again we see the FBI do the same thing. Meanwhile there are massive data breaches at all sorts of financial firms and nothing is done about it. Indeed, the FBI is singularly inept at catching digital criminals and terrorists who's crimes weren't planned and supplied by the FBI.
I don't know how long this sham has to go on before we actually do something about it. This is a clear waste of resources at the very least, and a serious miscarriage of justice at worst. And yet all the lawmakers remain silent because they don't want to be seen as soft on terrorism.
