At a talk given the day after the 2010 election — one that was a disaster for Democrats — “progressive” writer and civil liberties lawyer Glenn Greenwald gave a talk at the University of Wisconsin, and expressed the hope that Democrats might suffer the same fate in 2012.
2010 was a devastating defeat for the working class. The election of Scott Walker and Republicans like him nationwide was a monumental / historic setback for Labor Unions, Teachers, Women's Healthcare, Voting rights, Campaign Finance etc.
Many progressives believe the damage being done by Republican State Legislatures and the Teabagger Congress will set the country back for a generation.
The Economy
Healthcare
Voting Rights
Environmental regulations
Clean Energy initiatives
Education
Gay Rights
Immigration
etc etc
Koch Libertarian - Faux progressive Ratfucker Glenn Greenwald wants progressives to let Republicans win.
even though I know that by abstaining or supporting a third party, I’m going to be sacrificing some of my short term political interests; I’m going to be causing a few more Republicans to be elected than otherwise might be elected; on balance, I’m willing to sacrifice my short term interests in order to do something to subvert the stranglehold that these two parties have on the political process because electing more Democrats, even though it’s a little less scary, accomplishes nothing good. And everyone’s going to have to decide for themselves when they get to that point, and I think and hope that that point is pretty close.
Daily Kos claims to be a blog interesting in electing more & better Democrats.
Greenwald is free to have this opinion. He is NOT entitled to maquerade as an uber left wing progressive and peddle this bullshit unchallenged by REAL LIBERALS interested in preventing Republicans from hurting people and destroying this country.
Greenwald isn't sacrificing ANYTHING.
MSNBC contributor Joy Anne Reid explains what Greenwald and his Libertarian allies are advocating for.
Should Republicans, who will be of the same ideological stripe as those in the House, because of the primacy of the Koch/John Birch Society tea party wing, take over Congress and the White House, this will be a very different country a few years from now.
This also applies to Republicans in the States. Right now here in Texas we are battling Republican efforts on all fronts.
Leaders like Wendy Davis need support from progressives.
We need more Elizabeth Warren's in Washington. Greenwald wants more Rand Paul's.
There are many Libertarians who have made homes on liberal blogs and try to prevent their agenda from being exposed. They will show up here in this diary to do the same.
Here is a video of con artist Glenn Greenwald pretending to speak for the left and protect progressives "honor". Name dropping Alan Grayson, Russ Feingold etc.
All while gloating about GOP landslide victories in Congress and the States.
