Today, the Obama administration announced that people whose insurance plans were canceled this year will "temporarily" be exempted from the law's individual mandate.
Here is the HHS guideline. People whose insurance was cancelled and who don't want to buy a new policy will have to get a hardship exemption. If they want to buy a catastrophic policy, they will then submit the hardship exemption to the insurer.
