The 1% have taken all the productivity gains since the 70's for themselves. They have taken us to the cleaners on pensions, savings plans, interest rates, bubbles,  market crashes, late fees, health care costs and more. They get trillions of dollars from the Fed at near zero interest and lend it back to us at usurious rates. They don't work for their money because their money works for them. Once we get to the point where we can't own anything they buy it all and rent it to us.

We are the 99% and they Owe Us!

Labor is underpaid and overtaxed and then hit with a sales tax when we buy what we need to survive. It is time for a little fairness. They owe us the same taxes on investment income as we pay on labor income. They owe us the same tax on financial transactions as we pay for sales tax. When a person commits a crime they are incarcerated. When a corporation commits a crime they should lose their license to operate until they have paid their dues to society. It is time for Justice.

They fear Populism! They fear Truth! They fear Democracy!

We are the 99% and they Owe Us!

Tue Dec 31, 2013 at 2:33 AM PT: This place is great. I notice I posted my diary just before Senator Bernie Sanders posted his. Where else could we both have the honor of speaking to the world and I get to go first. And, thankfully, some fellow Cossacks were nice enough to read my diary and not flame me.

Once again, I've lain awake at 3 in the morning thinking instead of sleeping. There are 3 gifts I'd like to give to OWS. The first is a slogan "Owe Us" just a slight twist of OWS. The second is a symbol, a pitchfork, borrowed from the workers of Italy for the sake of solidarity. The third is a song borrowed from both Arlo Guthrie and Mahatma Ghandi.

Tue Dec 31, 2013 at 2:42 AM PT: If one person chants "Owe Us" they'll think he is crazy and ignore him.
If two people chant "Owe Us" they'll think they are gay and ridicule them.
If 3 people chant "Owe Us" they'll think it is an organization and fight them.
If 50 people, 50 people a day, come down to the town hall and chant "Owe Us" they'll think it is a movement, and that is just what it is, the Owe Us Movement.

Tue Dec 31, 2013 at 2:43 AM PT: And then we win.

Tue Dec 31, 2013 at 3:26 AM PT: I meant Kossacks not Cossacks. I don't want to give the wingnuts any more ammo.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
