"There was a missing child that day. The police had trouble conducting that search because they were tied up directing traffic," says Jan Goldberg, a Fort Lee city councilman who works with local emergency personnel. No harm, no story? Perhaps. But it shows that a real, easily foreseen, danger to public safety was caused by the venal bullying of the Christie administration.
"I was furious," adds Kasofsky. "To affect the lives of thousands and thousands of people, their safety, their basic quality of life—how could anybody do such a horrible thing?"This is not over. Christie needs to resign.
