Hey venthooligans, how was your weekend? Mine alternated fun and sad, and stressful. Friday night I set out with a pal to see Dallas Buyer's Club. The tiny screening room was sold out, but we were downtown, so decided to walk up to North Beach for live music in the old blues dive bar Saloon. The Saloon was divey as ever and the music sounded terrible so we had a drink at Spec's and went to seek better music in the Tenderloin. Our timing was bad there so we retreated to another bar, another round. On the bus homeward I checked my email to find that a friend had died suddenly riding her horse on the beach around sunset. She was 60. She had a heart attack @5 years ago. She was a very capable and dependable and generous friend, had a lot of friends and was the caretaker for a motley group of relatives at her family's' big old house. That she is gone is just starting to sink in.
Today I took my mom to dr. and a lab for blood test and lunch with daughter as volunteer accompanist. It was wearing. Home with daughter who's just been seized with a sad fit and sobbing in the next room, I'm de-stressing with some plant materials my friend helped to harvest in Humboldt County last fall.
Tonight's guests on the LLS are Kevin Bacon and Karla Souza. Here's what you might have missed on Friday.
Did you see Animal Nuz Saturday? It was a goodie!
