An email from Senator Roy Blunt.
Dear WTFurious,
As we enter the sixth year under the Obama Administration, we’ve learned that December marked the weakest month of job growth since January 2011. Nearly 350,000 Americans dropped out of the workforce last month, dragging the labor force participation rate to its lowest level in 36 years.
One of the more burdensome and devastating policies for the economy and job creation is the president’s own signature health care law. Thanks to ObamaCare, millions of Americans have lost coverage, lost jobs, lost doctors, and must pay higher health insurance premiums and deductibles they cannot afford.
Not surprisingly, poll after poll shows most Americans still disapprove of ObamaCare as well as the president’s job performance.
I’m fighting to repeal ObamaCare because it’s bad for Missouri families – and I want to hear how this law is impacting you. Click here to share your story.
And so I shared... below the fold.
Well thank you Senator Roy for giving me this opportunity. I am currently employed with decent insurance which is guaranteed not to change due to our union contract. My daughter can stay on my policy until she is 26, which is very nice since she is now going to have a baby and will not have to start out her new life buried in medical debt.
But you see Roy I have a problem, pre-existing conditions prevent me from getting health insurance at any price. Now I can pick up some very expensive disaster insurance that would not cover my doctor's visits, my medications and next to nothing if I was hospitalized.
Since Republicans currently in control of the senate in Missouri, I had to go to the Federal site to see what I was eligible for. It was kind of hard to get on at first.. and then it wasn't. I found a plan for four hundred dollars a month that covered most of what my employers plan did. Admittedly it is a little more expensive than what I currently have, but I was so relieved that I can actually GET insurance now thanks to many hard working Democrats and President Obama.
Now lets address the statement that the majority of people disapprove of the ACA. That is true to a point but is not totally factual. I am one of those who disapprove of the law for these reasons. The ACA is flawed, it does not go far enough and it rewards the same thieves that have driven the cost of health care through to the roof. A single payer system or public option is what is missing. Fixing the flaws would be easy. Repeal talk is good for fund raising but it is a terrible idea because so many people would be hurt by the repeal, including my family. And the common sense solutions being offered on the Republican side are tired and losing retreads of your party's platform.
As far as your job creators fears, they sure have not been doing any job creating so far have they? The Congress has not done anything to create jobs either as far as that goes. So why don't you and your job creating donors stop worrying about people actually getting health care and create some jobs? While you are at it, pass the immigration law and raise the minimum wage. Why don't you represent average people of Missouri for a change?
Thanks again
