DEA official freaks out at Senate hearing: Reckless marijuana legalization ‘scares us’
Surprising nobody the 'chief of operations' for the DEA went on the reefer mad rant one would expect when the topic is marijuana legalization
“I have to say this… going down the path to legalization in this country is reckless and irresponsible,” James L. Capra said during a Senate hearing. “I’m talking about the long-term impact of legalization in the United States. It scares us.”
He prattles on about how 'marijuana had failed every place it's been tried" (without any handy sources or graphs);and he became quite animated:
“There are more dispensaries in Denver than there are Starbucks,” Capra remarked. “The idea somehow… that this is somehow good for us as a nation, that this is good for the next generation coming up is wrong. It’s a bad thing, and this body will get its door knocked on ten years from now and say, ‘How did we get where we got?’”

He apologized for his excitement, but insisted marijuana legalization was a “bad, bad experiment” that would cost the United States both socially and criminally.
It all ends with him whining about the 'misperception' people have that the DEA arrest common people. And with Diane Feinstein reminding us she is part of the problem, not part of the solution, by uttering the gateway theory bullshit.
But yeah, the DEA afraid of legalized marijuana. Never saw that coming.
I liked the line in the article about how 'ten years from now' America will be banging on their door pleading for help.
Translating the nonsense it reads
"if we don't keep scaring the shit out of you about this weed, we won't be here in ten years".
We can only hope.
