Yes, I know, another day and another Fox News guest has to say something viciously racist and inflammatory, but then how else can we be wonderfully entertained by their sad cluelessness?
Here are the particulars. http://www.rawstory.com/...
Sandy Rios, of American Family Radio, was offended when a listener suggested she was racist toward black people, who she blamed for inciting white racism.
“I think the racist garbage coming from the — uh, a lot of blacks right now who are just filled with bitterness and rage is just amazing to me,” Rios said. “It is racism, I am seeing it constantly here in D.C., you know, I think — and it’s causing white citizens to become more racist than they ever were.”
...
“I think for the most part, the American Anglo-Saxon crew really has moved past racism, they did it quite a long time ago,” she said.
...
Rios, a Fox News contributor, said racism had demonstrably ended because segregation was no longer legally enforced and the nation had elected a black president.
“I mean, they did elect Barack Obama twice, so I think it’s not nearly the issue in the white community that it was in the 50s, sure it isn’t, or the 60s – it just isn’t,” she said. “But it seems to be raging, racism seems to be absolutely raging in the black community. I think what’s causing it is people like Barack Obama and (Attorney General) Eric Holder, who can’t say enough and stir the pot enough to create anger and hatred and bitterness,” Rios said. “You know, they do the same thing with women, it’s the same thing in feminism, that’s why I’ve never been a feminist. I hate feminism.”
Yes, well, I'm so glad to hear that now aren't you? Racism is O.V.E.R. It's done. We passed some laws almost 50 years ago, so of course we can expect that all the underlying fear and hatred that generated the need for those laws has just evaporated all on it's own.
Poof! All gone now.
Yep, problem solved. And we Elected a Black President where only 59% of the White People Voted against him, so clearly we've improved significantly from when 80 or 90% would have.
Now if only the Black people would just stop complaining and being so bitter about being randomly shot down in the street by police or just about anyone who claims to be afraid of them, being targeted for excessive police stops and drug searches without probable cause, biased prosecutions and sentencing, being targeted for predatory loans and subsequent foreclosures because obviously - since laws were passed against open discrimination it's not like anyone would dare try to do it anyway despite what the law says. It's not like some of patterns and practices of discrimination have been engrained into the structural and procedural fabric of our society since y'know - a Black President solves all problems and heals all wounds, right?
Also feminists. Hate 'em.
Because we all know that White people are all as pure as the driven snow and that now a days none of them are racially biased even a little bit, except of course when black people make them by not be sufficiently appreciative of how benevolent and awesome they truly are, so even then it's not all their fault anyway.
Yeah, all the racism is the fault of those mean, angry black people. And saying that isn't racist at all, cuz I said so.
And about those blacks, geez, can't they realize when they've got it good? Look see that President. Black as a coal mine he is. Aren't you satisfied yet?
What is their problem?
I mean, after all the generous Affirmative Action, and Welfare and all those sweet Juicy-Juicy Food Stamps, and Medicare, and Medicaid, and Social Security Disabilty and ObamaCare - what-in-the-every-loving-world could Black people have left to feel to bitter about anymore? Haven't they taken enough from all the white honest brave true-American - uh - hard working people so they can sit on their fat asses, watch Judge Judy and eat shrimp with lobster sauce on the government dole?
Someone really ought to make a movie about how the White People are the Truly Oppressed! Oh wait, my bad, they it already DID make that movie back in 1915. Bet that sucker would win an Oscar if they'd just colorize it and make it a talkie!.
Things are so much better than back in the 50's and the 60's where Black people were illegally disenfranchised from their 15th Amendment Right to Vote by things like literacy tests and poll taxes. Yes, it's so much better now isn't it?
The North Carolina General Assembly recently passed a new set of voting rules that will disenfranchise an estimated 319,000 North Carolina voters, 30% of whom are African American. SCSJ will fight to the end to ensure that every eligible voter is able to exercise this fundamental right. Here is the story of just one of the voters who effectively lost their right to vote thanks to the new Voter ID bill. Alberta Currie is the Great-Granddaughter of slaves. She, her parents and her children all worked picking cotton and tobacco in the fields of Robeson County NC. She is the mother of seven, 78 years old and does not have a birth certificate because she was born at home. She has voted consistently since she first became eligible to vote in 1956. She does not have a photo ID and cannot obtain one in North Carolina without a birth certificate.
See, "better".
And it's not like we've had police in riot gear advancing on gaggles of black and white non-violent protestors united in solidarity against the kind of thing MLK was protesting in Memphis (union worker rights) by opposing the lousy treatment of people by corporate backed entities that have discriminated against them and destroyed their way of life for a short-term increase in market share and dividends being attacked by tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets and nets to get them to disperse, disassociate and stop damaging everyone elses precious calm with all their incessant complaining and whining about "Injustice" and "Inequality" and stuff.
That hasn't happened since what - 2011?
It's so blatant that everything has changed.
We haven't had an out-and-out KKK Lynching with a Rope and all since - gee - 1981?
http://www.nytimes.com/...
So the program’s central focus is on what it calls the last lynching in the United States: the murder of Michael A. Donald, 19, by two young Ku Klux Klansmen in Mobile, Ala., in 1981. Or as Representative Artur Davis of Alabama, the third delegate Mr. Koppel spends time with, says, “in the era of color TV.”
James Knowles, one of the murderers, says on the program that he and his confederate, Henry Hays, the son of the local Klan chief, had randomly selected Mr. Donald as he was walking down a street one night. The two kidnapped him at gunpoint, then drove to a wooded area where they beat him and slit his throat. They returned to hang the body from a tree within view of the Hays family home.
Of course I'm not counting the dragging death of James Byrd in 1998 by White Supremacists, because
they used a chain instead of a rope so naturally
that doesn't count, or the 1995 murder of a black couple by Supremacists from Fort Bragg because
they used guns, and not a rope.
And the Police - and wannabe Police - killings of Leonard Detweiler, Ron Settles, Yula Love, Oscar Grant, Amadour Diallo, Patrick Dorismond, Kendrec McDade, Jonathan Ferrel, Renisha McBride and Trayvon Martin don't count cuz - Black People are Scary and suspects for robbery and assault by default. Plus, Hoodies!, Also.
Yeah, if black people would simply stop complaining about having their testicles ruptured during a pat down because - yeah - that kind of thing happens to white people all the time and they never complain about it do they?
And why do black kids have to keep whining about being suspected and stopped by police then physically searched and verbally assaulted over and over again even when they find they did nothing wrong or illegal 99% of the time? Don't they know they should expect to be treated as guilty of something until proven innocent of everything!? Particular if their pants sag - cuz, y'know Bad Fashion is a clear sign of Criminal Intent and Don Lemon said so, didn't he?
I can understand that many White people have no obvious animosity in their heart toward black people. I can see how many of them have no hatred what so ever. I can see how some of them are simply sick and tired of being held accountable and blamed for the misfortunes and failures of people they don't even know and certainly aren't responsible for.
Believe me, most black people can feel your pain on that one.
I can even understand how some of them could be taken aback by loud boisterous outbursts like Richard Sherman's at the end of this weekends NFC Championship game. I mean, it's not like silly self-aggrandizing smack talk like that could ever be confused with anything we've ever seen a white person like Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds ever say.
Or maybe someone from WWE Smackdown.
Because clearly Sherman is a Vicious Mandigo THUG on the lose because he's from Compton - even though he went to Stanford - while Ogre and the WWE people are - whatever they are.
And thinking so clearly isn't "racist".
Yeah, I can see that.
However, I can also see something else. It was never the case that most white people hated black people. A few may have, but most stood by and did nothing. Most didn't want to put themselves at risk or stick their neck out - only a few, like those who white people helped co-found the NAACP in a battle against extra-judicial lynchings, or the Freedom Riders for Voting Rights were willing do do what needed to be done, sometimes at the risk and sacrifice of their own lives.
So yeah, sure - that's changed. They don't shoot and burn "White Race Traitors" like the Freedom Riders anymore (although they've repeatedly threatened to, and occasionally tried in Washington D.C and Oakland) do they? Now they just call them "Communists", "Anarchists", "Socialist" or every once in a while when they're feeling congenial - Democrats.
But I can see that regardless of who you are, regardless of whether you personally have "skin" in the game or not, if you can see clear and obvious injustice and let it continue without speaking and standing against it you have helped enable that injustice.
And black people haven't made ANYONE decide to do that. They've done it - done nothing by standing idly by - all on their own.
