5:45 PM PT: Welcome to the State of the Union, 2014 edition! And, yeah, the GOP has already gone batshit insane:

On floor of house waitin on "Kommandant-In-Chef"... the Socialistic dictator who's been feeding US a line or is it "A-Lying?"

That's a real Republican congressman, folks.

5:49 PM PT: Seriously, I haven't seen the president's prepared remarks, but I hope to high heaven that he reads that's tweet.

5:50 PM PT: Interesting shot there of Mitch McConnell shaking hands with James Lankford who wants to take Tom Coburn's seat.

5:52 PM PT: Ted Cruz (who went nuts on Obama in the same spirit as that Texas congressman above, if not in with the same words) is in the building.

5:57 PM PT:
Boehner's got a good slur going to start the evening's announcements. #sotu

6:01 PM PT: The Supreme Court has been ushered into the chamber, and the president will be coming up soon. First Lady Michelle Obama just took her seat.

6:02 PM PT: And now the cabinet making their way in.

6:08 PM PT: I'm looking over the prepared remarks, and while I haven't read them all, at least in some parts a clear message shines through (and please pardon my language): Fuck Congress.

6:10 PM PT: "Mr. Speaker: The President of the United States!" And here comes the president.

6:11 PM PT: Obama is wearing a blue tie. None of that purple or red nonsense.

6:14 PM PT:
The GOP brought a dude from Duck Dynasty as a guest, to make a point. I think the point was "I'm a petulant homophobic 12 year old." #sotu
The president is at the podium.

6:14 PM PT: And now Speaker Boehner: "I have the high privilege and distinct honor of presenting to you the President of the United States." More applause.

6:17 PM PT (Barbara Morrill): New thread here.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
