GOP hero George Zimmerman, who shot a teenager for the crime of being black and in possession of Skittles, continues in his quest to become a bad punchline...literally. According to New York Magazine:

The acquitted killer will fight in a celebrity boxing match, and he tells RadarOnline, "It was my idea." Zimmerman explains that his apparent passion for trolling isn't his sole motivation. "Prior to the incident I was actually going to the gym for weight loss and doing boxing-type training for weight loss," says Zimmerman. "A mutual friend put me in contact with Damon [Feldman, celebrity boxing promoter] and provided me with an opportunity and motivation to get back in shape and continue with my weight loss goals and also be able to help a charity out."

The match will be held on March 1, airing online and on Pay-Per-View, but Zimmerman was vague about the details. He said some of the proceeds would go to charity, but wouldn't say which one. "I’d love to tell you but unfortunately there’s so much animosity still from people out there, that if I name the charity now they would get bombarded with negativity, so I’d rather not," he said, adding, "I will tell you that it’s an animal rescue."

Of course it is. His opponent has yet to be determined but rapper The Game told TMZ that he's up for it:
"I will beat the fuck out of him," says the rapper, who has a Trayvon tattoo. "I would not be boxing for me.  I'd be boxing for the legacy of Trayvon Martin and for his family." He added, "I would definitely take pleasure in it.  It's legal, and I want to show him you can solve your disputes without a weapon."
I must confess, I'm ambivalent about this; on the one hand, I have no problem with seeing the odious Zimmerman get the shit kicked out of him. On the other hand; there's something spectacularly sordid about the whole thing. Then again, it's George could it be anything but spectacularly sordid?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
