Daniel Snyder "REDSKINS OWNER SAYS HE WON`T CHANGE TEAM NAME":

Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder reiterated Wednesday his long-held insistence that he won’t change the team’s name, in the face of new criticism from American Indians who find it offensive.

Count me among those who agree that the team`s logo is offensive and has been so since Dan Snyder chose to illustrate a name that even Native Americans do not use.

Daily, I am called upon to sign this petition or that petition here at Daily Kos. I have never denied any call and have consistently joined this community to right a wrong which a petition points out must be corrected.

I do not know how, nor have I ever faced an urge to draw up my own petition asking Kossacks to join me in a fight to right a wrong or an issue as racist as what I call upon you to join me with this short memo of a diary.

If those, or you who call upon me to sign your petition daily would rightfully put up one designed to call attention to this video which I bring to you, I would appreciate it with all my heart. I think it is time for the State of Washington to ditch their racist logo on their home team, a state that should respect human dignity against racial discrimination.

If I could draw up my own petition, I would urge Snyder to send a message to Kansas City, and Atlanta that they bury their racist`s logos for all time. I am sure you could could write up a pretty convincing petition. If so I thank you.

Enjoy tomorrow`s Super Bowl game.

Thank you

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
