Friday once more, and Valentines day to boot! It's also been a year since we've moved here to Lake City, Fl.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
Ok, we do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

A lot of changes in the past year, and yet so much has stayed the same. We've had central heat and air for a year and everyone's health is better because of it, even the pets'. I think we would have lost Freya by now if we'd stayed in the trailer, she used to get sick and wheezing every winter. Hardly any of that at all for the past year, though her arthritis is a bit worse.
We've gotten a Morgaine, and we're working on training her. The house with mostly hardwood floors is SO much easier to keep clean and stay on top of, even with my breathing and stamina the way it is. We just signed a new lease this year without a rent increase!
Draco is in his senior year of high school, which I still find hard to believe. It seemed such a short time ago that he was starting Kindergarten! Bit is in 5th grade, and will be 11 at the end of this month! They're growing up so fast and so well, but some days I wish they'd just slow down a little bit.
Oh and this is also our 16th anniversary as a couple. 16 years ago today I drove from Florida to Georgia to meet FlSNDad in real time after knowing him and being friends for several years online. 16 years ago today was the first time Draco hugged him and called him Dad; and for an autistic 2 year old kid who had an aversion to being touched to do that on the very first day they met, you know he's something special! They've always had a very close and special relationship, even though sometimes they argue and don't see eye to eye on things. Draco knows who his biological father is, but rarely sees him. He knows who his Dad is, who's been there day in and day out. So Valentine's day for us, isn't some hallmark card chocolate candy holiday, it's a celebration of us as a family. A celebration of all the years making it through life together and fighting for eachother. That's what Valentine's day means to us. It's a day of Celebration of beginnings and the love that's seen us through all of those to get where we are today.
What does Valentine's day mean for you and your family?
