Roy Cho (D. NJ-05), the congressional candidate who's campaign has been endorsed by Ghostface Killah, is taking advantage of Bill Maher's proposition to help flip a district this year:
We have excellent news about our effort to get Bill Maher to choose New Jersey’s 5th CD and Scott Garrett as his “Flip a District” target.
Thanks to your incredible response to our email blast last week, Scott Garrett is the third most tweeted target by viewers nationwide!  What’s more, the House members in first and second place have national profiles (e.g., Paul Ryan) unlike Garrett, underscoring just how significant your taking the time to tweet has been!

We further know we got the attention of Maher and his staff given that they used our district as an example in a tweet about #flipadistrict to Real Time followers in recent days:

We’re writing to ask you to please give us one more minute of your time to tweet and/or post on Facebook again!   The #flipadistrict nominations are still rolling in and it’s crucial that we maintain our lead!

Here are the particulars about how and what to Tweet and post on Facebook (if you need further instructions, please like Roy Cho on Facebook to find the information):

To Tweet: Be certain to include the handle .@billmaher (make sure you use the period at the beginning) and the hashtags #flipadistrict and #NJ5 in your message.

Here’s a sample tweet -- .@billmaher Come home to #NJ5 & #flipadistrict to defeat Tea Party poster boy Scott Garrett! Dem nominee to be @RoyCho5 can beat him!

To Post on Facebook: Type or paste your message in the “Update Status” box at the top of your Facebook page.  Again, be certain to include the hashtags #flipadistrict and #NJ5 in your message.

A huge number of tweets and Facebook posts are our key to success, so please tweet or post now and  also consider passing this email along to friends and family who may be interested.

Thank you so much for your help!  We appreciate you!

Sincerely,

Andrew Rohrberger

Glad to see Cho's campaign taking advantage of this.  Please do Tweet and post on Facebook to make Garrett a top target for Bill Maher.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?

(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?
