Post a comment, or kosmail to Postmodernista's link in our logo-box (below) the date you'd like and your working title or topic. Diaries can be one paragraph, or two, or twenty. Whatever matters to you matters to all of us.

KosAbility logoKosAbility is a Sunday 4pm(Pacific time) community series by volunteer diarists, as a gathering for people living with disabilities, who love someone with a disability, or who want to know more about the issues. Our use of "disability" includes temporary as well as permanent conditions, from small, gnawing problems to major, life-threatening health/medical problems. Our use of "love someone" extends to beloved members of other species.

Our discussions are open threads in the context of this community. Feel free to comment on the diary topic, ask questions of the diarist or generally to everyone, share something you've learned, tell bad jokes, post photos, or rage about your situation. Our only rule is to be kind; trolls will be spayed or neutered. If you are interested in contributing a diary, contact series coordinator postmodernista.

Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

recoveringConservative has March 2, so the March 8 will be the open thread. This is entirely my fault- despite mettle fatigue's best efforts, I manage to screw up the schedule.

My apologies to all, especially mettle fatigue.

I've been meaning to write something about autism "biomedical treatments" for a while. I was subjected to them as a kid and they're not pleasant.

KosAbility 'meets' every Sunday at 4pm pacific time.  It's in the big 'ol boilerplate/logo-block that we put in the introductory section of each diary.  So you're scheduled for March 16, as you requested.

If you want to publish your diary "at" your own page, you'll need to queue it to KosAbility far enough ahead that postmodernista or I can schedule it so it re-publishes automatically right in time for the 'meeting'.

And if you want to publish "for" KosAbility, you'll need to queue it far enough ahead that one of us can edit the boilerplate into your diary plus schedule it.

Either way, queueing half a day in advance or sooner would be appreciated, i.e., that Sunday morning. I don't get to keyboard until 2pm due to my disabilities and health issues, but postmodernista might be there sooner.  myself i don't wait to do anything last minute because i reeeellly get upset with myself when i make mistakes due to rush and panic & suchlike.

So if you want it published "for" KosA, you queue it to us as a draft, and you can indicate in the introductory section exactly where you'd prefer the boilerplate/logo-block to go, by centering (more or less) in bolded capital letters

LOGO HERE TK TK TK TK

and that's where it'll go! (deleting that placemarker, of course.)

If you already know which you'd prefer, could you reply to this comment and say?

I'm looking forward to your diary - your "Deserving Disabled" really hit home for me.

I could try to publish it "at" my own page. How do you queue the thing? :O

postmodernista's gonna send you a kosmail - i copied to her the link of my comment to you because i'm kinda new at this too.

meanwhile, when you've saved the diary you've written in your "drafts" folder, you'll see 3 orange bars at the top (which you've probably noticed before):
              From left, they are

                 Edit Diary      Publication Manager       Delete

When you click on "Publication Manager", you get a big 'ol box that gives you 3 options:

                 •  Publish Now
(The diary will publish immediatey to yr own blog)
                 •  Publish Later
                    [some scheduling fill-ins are there]
                 •  Queue To A Group Blog
[selection bar that says "Select One"]

When you click on the down arrow of the selection bar, all the groups you are a member of will dropdown and you can select KosAbility there.  You can still work on polishing your diary & stuff, you just need to coordinate carefully with whatever editor you're working with (administrators like postmodernista have all the editorial abilities and then some) so you and the editor are not both "in" the diary at the same time, or weird things can happen! The easiest way to avoid weird things happening is to be really done writing and polishing before you queue a diary, with a clear indication of where the boilerplate/logo-block goes, so the editor can put that into your diary and schedule your diary to publish automatically right on time.

One additional caution: once you've queued a diary to a group, it'll need an administrator to un-queue if for some reason you need that done.  I'm just an editor, so I can't help with that, I can't even unqueue my own diaries there!

So postmodernista will be kosmailing to you with further info of various kinds or whatever.  Off & running!
