So my grandson is home with his parents now (he was in No. Dakota before.) He has what they call an "incomplete spinal cord injury" meaning that he has some movement and feeling in his lower body. And THAT my friends is why I am thanking you this day.
It takes about 6 months apparently to find out the total damage done by this injury. But he can now wiggle his toes a little and bounce his legs a little and straighten his legs out although he can't bend them back in again.
Feeling is spotty and incomplete. His butt isn't telling him much about his seating so he feels insecure and feels unbalanced easily.
But thanks to the rehab folks he can get in and out of a car and he can get around in his wheelchair (and really likes doing so, especially shopping!)
His accident was very scary. He left the ground (or his car did that he was driving) and plummeted down a ravine. He said he realized he couldn't do anything with the steering wheel so he put his hands up pushing up on the ceiling of the car. I think that saved him from getting a concussion. The only injuries he had was the crushed vertebre and a scratch. He landed upside down in a creek and was looking down into running water. A fellow saw the accident and got him help pretty quickly and that was a miracle too. Had he not done that my Grandson might not have been found in time to save him.
I don't know how much he will get back, but I will tell you this: it was your thoughts and energy that has given him impetus in his mending this far. If I could ask you to keep him in your thoughts for just a little longer maybe more of his nervous system will come on line.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers and healing energy. That is such a gift for him and for me.
