It's hard to cut much more to the chase then Paul Davis this week, when he announced maybe the best plan is to shut down the Kansas House Legislature 20 days early.

“The session has devolved into a circus that is just bringing a lot of embarrassment in the state,” he said.
Republicans mention that so much of the state work still needs to be done (which is even more baffling, then, considering they have just devoted 4 weeks to absolute nonsense) but maybe the most fitting response comes from Republican Brunk from Wichita:
Rep. Steve Brunk, R-Wichita, chairman of the committee that initially passed the religious-freedom bill, was blunt when asked to respond to Davis.
“Blah, blah, blah,” Brunk said. He said the Legislature would end its session when it had concluded its business, and argued that legislators were working hard to make decisions on how to reduce taxes and spend money more efficiently.
“I just don’t know what Paul’s talking about, which is not unusual,” Brunk said.
This seems like an illuminated response.
It's just been rough for Kansas. Before Turn Gays Away, Kansas spent a week and a half debating whether or not to cut of internet access that is provided by rural communities to their citizen. Then, we moved to legislation that would turn gays away, followed that with legislative proposals on ending no fault marriage, allowing spankings that leave bruising.. etc.
One thing is for certain, Kansas took great effort again to do nothing about mental health, school funding, or the economy. Oh wait, Republicans respond on that one:
“Governor Brownback clearly laid his agenda out during the State of the State speech. He has called for funding all day kindergarten, he has asked for higher education budget cuts to be restored, and has proposed a pay increase for classified state employees,” Belfry said in an e-mailed statement.
Hmm. But does anyone have copies of proposed legislation that does any of those things? Apparently not.
Oh lord.
Too tired tonight, spent all day in a session to try and sort out the KanCare fiasco (LONG post tomorrow) but seeing another Kansas legislative story on the front page for nuttiness, all I can say is: We aren't all lunatics. Seriously.
