Not really. Only incidentally.
It's about using gays as leverage to hurt the President.
They believe that by hurting gay people, the President will be hurt. Not politically hurt. Personally hurt. That he will feel attacked. That he will feel their vicious hatred for him. They want that. The collateral damage of hurting LGBT people is just a happy byproduct for the Arizona bigots and others like them.
These "Religious Freedom" bills are about conveying one message and one message only: The President is NOT A CHRISTIAN. The President is a BLACK KENYAN MUSLIM AND WE HATE HIM.
That's why they're all in a tizzy about protecting their CHRISTIAN "religious freedom."
Because the President is not one of us. He's an evil Muslim and we hate him. The more we point out we're Christians, the more what we're really saying is that he is not.
Just like the more we wear an American flag from head to toe as hat, shirt and pants, the more we are saying "we are real Americans and you are not."
The "religious freedom" angle is just the latest round of temper tantrums and spleen venting.
Make no mistake. These people have so much extreme personal hatred for the President that they are raging, raging, raging, night and day, every single day, all day long. They are obscenely obsessed. They are anger-locked. They are sadistic in their hatred. They are lost causes.
