For people who like Fox News but don't want to do all that math.
Oh dear. This
won't go well.
A Bloomberg Businessweek profile published Thursday revealed Newsmax.com founder and CEO Christopher Ruddy's plans to expand beyond his highly-trafficked website and influential magazine into television with a 24-hour cable news channel called NewsmaxTV -- described as a "kinder, gentler Fox" -- launching as early as June.
“Our goal is to be a little more boomer-oriented, more information-based rather than being vituperative and polarizing,” Ruddy told the magazine.
Yes, that's exactly what the world needs right now.
As a reader of politically minded sites, you might be more familiar with Newsmax as a driving force behind a great deal of questionable advertising. And a glance at their conspiracy-minded website won't do much to convince you that they're interested in being (cough) more "information-based" than Fox freaking News. Combine the two together and it seems clear that "gentler" and "more information based" probably does not mean what we on the outside of the conservative tent think it means.
