Best-selling publisher
White Whisker Books is throwing a party in Pasadena on Thursday, and all of the Los Angeles Kossacks are invited. The party is to celebrate the launch of TWO new books, and the authors will be reading from them in a special pre-publication sneak preview.
Those authors are Shelly Lowenkopf and Ehrich Van Lowe, and you can meet them at 7:00 pm this Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena.
Shelly Lowenkopf has been involved in every facet of publishing, and taught a generation of young writers during his 34 years in the
Master of Professional Writing Program at
USC. He may be best known for his best-selling book
The Fiction Writer's Handbook, (Amazon's number one book and ebook on writing skills) but the new book is his short story collection "
Love Will Make you Drink and Gamble, Stay Out Late at Night."
Author
David Gillham (
City of Women) says
“Shelly Lowenkopf is a master of the art of stealth in fiction. His writing draws you in and then, ka-pow! Here comes the sucker punch that flattens you.”
Ehrich Van Lowe enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a television writer and producer before turning his pen to novels. His TV credits include
The Cosby Show,
Even Stevens, and
The Tom Joyner Show, where he was head writer.
Ehrich (pronounced "Eric") also writes under the pen names Sal Conte and Amanda Ashby, but his current best selling young adult series
The Falling Angels Saga (Amazon's number one in children's spine-chilling horror and number 8 in children's ebooks) is written under his own name.
At Vroman's Ehrich will read from the fourth and final book in the series, Falling.
I hope you all will join
Dave in Northridge and me for this extraordinary event.
I am spreading the word not only because I believe it vitally important we support independent publishers and bookstores, but also because these authors are a hoot!
I will be raffling off a copy of Shelly's new book just to the Kossacks in attendance, so you won't want to miss that! Hope to see you all there!
