In all of the news reports and right wing ads has there been even one reported instance of a person paying more for an ACA policy that is not equal to or better than their current policy purchased in the private market. And the phrase "paying more" includes all costs for premiums, deductibles and co-pays as well as yearly out of pocket caps. And of course the ACA prohibits lifetime caps.
Is there one instance where a doctor is accepting non-ACA compliant policies but not accept ACA compliant policies?
Every story written and ad produced initially contains incomplete information and when the complete facts are revealed, lo and behold the person involved is in as good a shape and usually better off under the ACA policy.
Yes, there may be some employers who dropped their plans leaving employees to buy insurance on their own. And the employee may be paying more because the employer previously subsidized the premiums and now does not pass those funds on to the employee. But was the actual unsubsidized cost of old plan higher than the cost of a comparable ACA plan? I've yet to find an example where it was.
I am only aware of one instance where a person wanted a policy that was no longer available under the ACA. The person is so well heeled that he only wanted catastrophic coverage that kicked in after about $20,000 in medical expenses. Yes, that type of policy is no longer available. But, it is likely that the ACA compliant policy will end up costing him less at the end of the year than the catastrophic policy he had because the higher premiums for the ACA policy will be offset by benefits kicking in much earlier.
I've read ever supposed horror story about the ACA and still waiting to read one instance where a person is worse off under the ACA. And by "worse off" I don't mean they had to shop for insurance, or the had to admit the ACA wasn't so bad, or they had to go through an intense self-awareness exercise as they came to the realization that they have been lied to by their Obama hating friends and relatives. No, I mean worse off financially or in the quality of their care.
I'll keep scouring the inner-tubes, reading the papers, listening to the radio and watching the TeeVee till I get to the bottom of this.
