Transcript:
In Louisiana we expect leaders to solve problems -- not become part of the problem. But Congressman Bill Cassidy, well he voted to raise the Retirement Age to 70; to raise Medicare Costs $6000 dollars a year; And Cassidy voted 16 times to Shutdown the Government -- Sixteen times!
That's Congressman Cassidy's record in the House. He'd hurt us even more in the Senate.
(Senate Majority PAC is responsible for the content of this advertizing.)
When I wrote about this yesterday, I was challenged to find the data that backs up that "Retirement Age of 70" claim, presented in the Bill Cassidy Problem clip.
Luckily for me, these guys at Senate Majority PAC, were all too ready too, to provide the facts and stats to back up their claims:
CASSIDY VOTED TO RAISE THE SOCIAL SECURITY RETIREMENT AGE TO 70
2013: Cassidy Voted for Extreme Republican Study Committee Budget For FY 2014. [CQ; H Con Res 25, Vote #86, 3/20/13]
* FY 2014 RSC Budget Would Raise The Social Security Eligibility Age From 65 To 70 For Those 51 And Older. From the RSC's FY 2014 budget blueprint: "This budget would slowly phase in an increase in the Social Security full-retirement age for individuals born in 1962 (currently 51) and after to an eventual full-retirement age of 70." [Republican Study Committee Budget, March 2013]
And these others guys, who barely work
one day a week out of the year -- ALL voted along with Bill Cassidy (R-LA)
to raise the Retirement Age to 70, too. Like they had not a care in the world:
[CQ; H Con Res 25, Vote #86, 3/20/13]

Perhaps we should
make them care?
Ask your Congress Reps: If they voted to Raise the Retirement Age to 70?
And when they dodge the question, remind them of this little GOP agenda item, called:
Republican Study Committee Budget for FY 2014. [CQ; H Con Res 25, Vote #86, 3/20/13]
Then, ask them: If "their sponsors" made them do it? By vaguely hinting about a 'Primary Threat' from their right, if they don't?
Or if they simply believe, that unlike their lazy asses, American workers just don't work hard enough?
