Polls close at 8 PM ET throughout Illinois. Our
guide to tonight's key races can be found here: We'll be bringing you the results as they come in.
Results: AP: Statewide | By County
5:21 PM PT: The very first ballots are coming in.
5:30 PM PT: IL-Gov: We finally have a non-trivial number of votes counted. With about 2 percent of precincts in, Bruce Rauner has a 49-35 percent lead over Kirk Dillard in the GOP primary. Very early but won't be a surprise if these numbers hold up.
5:31 PM PT: IL-Sen: In the GOP race to take on Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin, Douglas Truax has a 51-49 lead over state Sen. Jim Oberweis. Durbin's safe in November, but it's always fun to see Oberweis lose.
5:33 PM PT: Treasurer: Finally, in the GOP primary for Treasurer, House Minority Leader Tom Cross leads DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan 55-45.
5:35 PM PT: IL-Gov: Now up to 7 percent statewide, and Rauner's lead over Dillard is down to 46-37. Still not looking like an upset.
5:37 PM PT: IL-Sen: Truax leads Oberweis 52-48. Truax is the prefered candidate of national GOPers, though it's not like their chances against Durbin are good in any case.
5:42 PM PT: Treasurer: Cross leads Grogan 56-44. None of Grogan's home of DuPage is in yet, but not looking good for him so far. The winner will face Democratic state Sen. Mike Frerichs.
5:47 PM PT: IL-Gov: We've at 15 percent of precincts reporting, and Rauner continues to dominate 49-35.
5:49 PM PT: IL-Sen, Treasure: Truax leads Oberweis 52-48, while Cross is up on Grogan 58-42.
5:54 PM PT: IL-Gov: 20 percent reporting statewide, and Rauner has opened up a 50-34 lead over Dillard. Brady, the party's 2010 nominee and almost winner, is all the way back at 11 percent. Scandal-tarred Treasurer Dan Rutherford is in Some Dude territory at 5 percent.
6:05 PM PT (Steve Singiser): IL-Gov: We are now up to 26 percent of precincts in statewide, and Rauner continues his sizable lead over Kirk Dillard (49-34).
One item of note: there had some whispers that incumbent Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn might face a little embarrassment in the form of an underwhelming win in his own primary against Tio Hardiman. Yup ... that ain't happening. Quinn leads 79-21, and nearly outpolls Rauner and Dillard combined. That is a sign of how Democratic the registration of the state is, even if Quinn still is very much endangered come the general election.
6:08 PM PT (Steve Singiser): IL-Sen: Meanwhile, with 31 percent of the vote now in, the highly underwhelming Jim Oberweis has taken his first lead of the night, though the lead is a mere 1300 votes, over Doug Truax.
6:11 PM PT (Steve Singiser): IL-13 (R/D): We have our first legitimate numbers out of the downstate 13th district, and there is a little bit of a surprise there. Though only 5 percent of the ballots are in, the Republican primary is actually closer than the Democratic one. On the GOP side, incumbent Rep. Rodney Davis has only a 57-38 lead over Erika Harold. Meanwhile, former judge Ann Callis is comfortably in charge of the Democratic primary, holding down a 59-27 lead over George Gollin.
6:24 PM PT (Steve Singiser): IL-Gov (R)/IL-Sen (R): Two trends are developing, albeit slowly, as the vote totals continue to pile in. With 38 percent of the vote in, the gubernatorial primary for the GOP continues to tighten. Bruce Rauner now leads Kirk Dillard by just ten points (45-35). Meanwhile, in the Senate primary, Jim Oberweis is now edging away from Doug Truax. The margin is now 52-48, or about 11,000 votes.
6:36 PM PT (Steve Singiser): PA-SD-28: Not a huge race on the night, but one worth reporting if for no other reason than the novelty. Tonight, a write-in candidate has apparently claimed a state legislative seat. In a deep-red slice of York County, Scott Wagner has already apparently been given the customary phone call of concession from Republican nominee Ron Miller. Wagner, too, is a Republican, and more conservative than Miller, to boot.
6:39 PM PT (Steve Singiser): IL-Gov (R)/IL-Sen (R): Earlier in the night, it looked like Oberweis/Truax would be the barnburner of the night, and the gubernatorial primary would be the snoozer. What a difference about a hundred thousand votes makes. Now, the AP is declaring Jim Oberweis the winner of the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. He now leads Doug Truax by a 55-45 margin. Meanwhile, Kirk Dillard continues to carve into Bruce Rauner's lead on the gov side. Rauner is now down to a 43-36 lead, or about 20,000 votes.
