Received this e-mail from U.S. Senator and veteran John Walsh (D. MT) today:
There’s something missing in the halls of Congress: folks who have the courage and sense of responsibility to do right by all Americans — especially our veterans.
A new report is out this week and the number of veterans in Congress is at its lowest point in 40 years.
It explains why Congress recently failed to pass a bill that would have expanded benefits for veterans and repealed a military pension cut.
We must never let extreme partisan agendas trump our responsibility to do what’s right. Congress is hurting more than veterans.
Join me and tell Washington to stop playing politics with our nation.

For Washington politicians to turn their backs on the ones who fight for us is a reminder of just how badly courage is needed back there.
There is one thing you can count on: I will never turn by back on my duty to take responsibility for our nation — to fight for our freedoms, for those less fortunate, and for those who can’t protect themselves.
Let’s show Washington that we’ve had it. Add your name and take a stand with me to tell Congress it can and must do better.

We’ll keep you up to date on my efforts to work with my colleagues to bring these important issues to the national stage.
Thanks for your support,
John Walsh
