Received this e-mail today from Senator Tom Udall (D. NM):
In New Mexico, we have a proud tradition of service to our country. Military veterans make up more than 10 percent of our population. And I believe that we owe them more than just a debt of gratitude.
Since 1944, the GI Bill has helped countless veterans readjust to life as a civilian. It has helped millions pursue their dream of higher education, afford critical medical services, and secure loans to start business or purchase a home.
When obstructionists in the Senate filibustered an effort to expand health care programs for rural veterans and help veterans obtain in-state tuition rates, I wish I could say I was shocked. But abuse of the filibuster has gotten so bad in the Senate, it wasn’t surprising.
Extreme Senate Republicans have proven that they will filibuster anything -- even programs for veterans -- just to make a point.
I’m sick and tired of obstructionists using stall tactics in the Senate. We need real filibuster reform -- and we need it now. Add your voice to mine and demand filibuster reform.

There are more than 170,000 veterans living in New Mexico, and I refuse to let obstructionists play politics with the benefits that they’ve earned in service to our country.
We’ve already made significant progress on filibuster reform in the Senate. Now it’s time to put a stop to the dysfunction and gridlock once and for all.
Let Washington know that you demand filibuster reform now.
