Good morning!
This is the weekly DKos Asheville open thread where we try to get together every Saturday morning around eleven, and then drift in and out throughout the day. We hope this group serves to reinvigorate us locally and regionally here on Daily Kos, building on the sense of community that's grown through our online engagement. DKos Asheville can give us all a better sense of connection, a better understanding of who these people are that we stand with, work with, and share with in the political process. We hope, through this community, that we can do a better job of leveraging our orange passion for progressive politics to help elect more and better Democrats.
If you would like to host a weekly open thread, please let us know.
This week LC (LamontCranston) talked with the marketing manager at Katuah Market; apparently, with their being a new store, the subject of non-store related outdoor vendors is something they haven't yet discussed at upper management levels. But she told LC that she would let him know something soon.
Interestingly, two other groups have approached her about doing voter registration there, including the League of Women Voters. This is very good to hear; voter registration is very key to what the outcomes will be in November, and what kind of governments, federal and state, we will have in 2015.
And ...
This coming Tuesday, April 1, there is a voter registration training. This is being held by the Mountain People's Assembly, the coalition group that sponsored Mountain Moral Monday last year and put together the big bus caravan to the Moral March on Raleigh last month. Here are the details ...
Where: Lord Auditorium in Pack Memorial Library, 67 Haywood St. downstairs
When: April 1, 2014 at 6 PM
Please arrive promptly. We have a lot to do and the library closes at 8 PM sharp. We will have to exit by 7:50 at the latest.
Questions: Call 828.423.6476
Pack Library is the main library downtown, just up from Malaprops book store. Directions, etc,
here.
The deadline to register to vote in the May 6 primary is April 11. So it you want to help get people registered to vote, you might want to consider attending this training on Tuesday. My guess is that they plan to be out registering voters between now and the April 11 deadline.

Our fifth quarterly DKos Asheville Meetup is scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd, at 1:00. We'll once again be back at the Bywater on the French Broad River in Asheville. If you plan to attend, or if you're thinking about it, send a kosmail to Randy, randallt, and he'll put you on the list in the Connect*Unite*Act community diaries. We currently have ten folks signed up plus two maybe's.
Good morning! I have a busy day juggling balls, rings and clubs for children's shows so I won't be around today but here's a brief update on things I've been working on.
We have two radio shows lined up for April to promote the May 3rd meet up and Daily Kos. I'll have the exact dates for you soon. The voter registration workshop is developing nicely and I'm sure it will be very useful for all of us interested in working in the trenches to find much needed voters.
If you are a regular reader, you know I'm creating cool ID lanyards for the event. That being said, we need some more RSVPs so I can start printing and laminating!
Congratulations to all the great meet ups we've been seeing reports on. You guys inspire us all! Have a great day everyone!

And as a reminder, we now have a google group for DKos Asheville, setup for the purpose of making it easier for us to send messages to group members. We'll use it to send reminders of the Saturday open threads, meetups, voter registration events, etc. If you would like to be added to the google group, kosmail me an email address and I will send you an invite. Note, this is a private group and your email address will not be public. Remember to check your email for the google invite.

Enjoy your day!
