I've been a consistent donor to Democrats and the DNC, and I have been getting lots of requests for donations. So far I have (mostly) not been chipping in, and I started to wonder, why not? What's holding me back, it's not like I give so much that it makes a big difference to my lifestyle, and since I am in favor of most all the Democratic positions and against all the Republican ones, and I can see that we're on track to lose big this year, what's up with me?
I can say the few things I strongly disagree with that neither party owns, like school vouchers over real investment in low-performing public schools, ond the drones, but clearly, even in these areas the Democrats aren't as awful
Here's what (I think) I have been waiting to hear.
I want to hear about the get-out-the vote strategy in the key states, and exactly which tech masters are on top of it. I want names, and goals, and I want to hear enthusiasm, and joy in the undertaking, and I want to know my donations will go directly to that effort.
I want to know which ones out of all our great issues are going to be pushed, and I want the DNC to throw lots of contests to discover talent in producing television and internet ads.
I want some fun in this endeavor, not just throw in bucks and who knows where it goes.
I do blame Obama's administration for not knowing the ACA site wouldn't work, I love expertise and problem solving, and predicting problems and asking for input.
Obama's trump card is smarts and experts and on-top-of-things (like Hillary, he made competence cool) but the ACA roll out wasn't like that, and maybe that's why I want to be in a position to judge for myself if these efforts are smart and likely to yield the right results.
I think we can do a blow-out in '014, but we need the right techies and the right get-out-the-vote issues.
