The Supreme Court now has two hunters, one appointed by Reagan and the other by Obama.
Justice Kagan tells her own story better than I could, it begins at about the 2 minute mark but the whole thing is worth a listen, Ms. Kagan is an engaging conversationalist, and I suspect she'll have a long career as an influential justice.
From listening to her it sounds as if hunting is not just a tried it once and now that box is ticked kind of thing. This could have an effect on things such as gun rights and issues conservation. To have shot birds and big game Ms Kagan is familiar with at least a couple types of firearms. Guns are no longer a scary thing owned by scary people.
My hope is that by broadening her horizons Justice Kagan will also have an open mind about how hunting is affected by legislation if it is to come in front of the court.
