Oregon United for Marriage is the group that has initiated the ballot initiative campaign to bring marriage equality to Oregon. They had been collecting signatures for some time (and, had collected about 160K) when they discontinued the effort because of the court case in that state -- Rummel and West v Kitzhaber and also Geiger v Kitzhaber (the cases were combined in January). They filed an amicus brief on Tuesday, April 1, asking the court for a quick resolution to the case. If the court rules quickly, they say they will be spared a long and expensive election campaign. They have to have the signatures in by July 3 to make the ballot in November, 2014. And, once submitted, they cannot withdraw from the election/campaign.
US District Judge Michael McShane will hold a hearing on April 23, 2014. Oregon's AG has already filed a brief in support of the plaintiffs' claims and stating that she believes Oregon's marriage amendment is unconstitutional and violates the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution. You can read more on that filing here.
Also, on Tuesday, 36 Oregon employers filed an amicus brief in support of overturning the ban.
