I'll admit I'm perplexed by a diary and comments expressing sympathy with Brendan Eich over his decision to resign from his lucrative position over at Mozilla. Of course, the first issue I have with their position is the braying about the First Amendment - which they fail to recognize is not involved in any way with this situation.
However, more fundamental is the position that Brendan Eich is somehow different than Rush Limbaugh or the CEO of Home Depot or any of the other situations in which bigotry resulted in attempted boycotts. When asked to explain how it's different, there's simply no response.
I would very much like to know: Do they believe it's different because a) What Brendan Eich said was against LGBT's and being opposed to marriage equality is not such a big deal or b) He hasn't made enough objectional statements for us to pay attention to or c) he didn't personally make the statement but instead paid someone else $1,000 to make the statement or d) something else entirely?
