Victims of a conspiracy?
Interesting logic here:
A West Monroe minister says U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister’s Monroe District Office manager leaked the video of the congressman’s tryst with a former staff member who isn’t the congressman’s wife.

Danny Chance, pastor of Christian Life Church, also said Monroe District Office manager Leah Gordon said she was taking the video to state Sen. Mike Walsworth, R-West Monroe, and Jonathan Johnson, who worked for former U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Ruston.

“I’m not taking up for the congressman; what he did was wrong,” said Chance, who said he didn’t know if Gordon ever took the video to Walsworth and Johnson. “But I just feel like there is a conspiracy to bring Vance down and destroy him. For someone on his staff to do that is wrong.”

Both Walsworth and Gordon deny Chance's claim, but even if they did release the video, how on Earth can anybody blame them for McAllister's problems? It's not like they forced him to kiss his staffer. But as ridiculous as this line of defense is, McCallister's staff seem prepared to use it, saying they are investigating the tape's release and consulting with lawyers to determine whether or not any laws were broken in the release of the video.
“We are conducting our own investigation to seek out who leaked the video and determine our actions once we get all of the facts,” [McAllister chief of staff Adam] Terry said. “Clearly, what the congressman did was wrong and he’s taking responsibility for his actions. However, a breach in security in a federal office is a grave concern for us.”

Terry said he isn’t clear about whether federal law was broken with the release of the video.

“We discuss that with attorneys who are reviewing the law,” he said.

Reviewing the law? Really? The only thing that could make this situation any crazier is if McCallister tried to press charges against the individual or individuals who exposed his behavior. You have to figure that won't play well.

Meanwhile, the husband of the staffer with whom McAllister was caught cheating said the congressman had "wrecked" his life and that he and his wife were "headed for divorce."

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
