If you don't remember who Pierre (pronounced pier) Howard is, let me re-introduce you. Elected Lt. Governor of Georgia in 1990, Howard served two terms and was on hand to introduce Bill Clinton and Al Gore to the state in 1992. I'm not sure if I've got this correct, but as I remember it, Valdosta, Georgia was the closest the campaign got to North Florida. So, that's where we went to catch the dynamic duo and their entourage.
It was an event that was well attended and, belatedly, translated from VHS foYoutube:

Pierre Howard of the Georgia Conservancy
Nowadays, Pierre Howard heads up the Georgia Conservancy, though he's set to retire in July. Today, he's taken to the pages of the Georgia Times Union to argue that the 'Spit' on Sea Island deserves to be saved. Regular readers of Dailykos know I've been saying the
same thing for some time. It's nice to have a conservation expert weigh in, especially so eloquently.
Lead letter in the Georgia Times Union for April 11, 2014.
I wouldn't be so polite. I'd be more inclined to say the hedge funders are holding the wildlife, the sedges and the smilax hedges hostage to fatten their accounts. As if getting the whole kit and kaboodle for thirty three cents on the dollar wasn't bargain enough.
