Received this e-mail today from Senator Sherrod Brown (D. OH) regarding Governor John Kasich (R. OH) and
There are 21 Planned Parenthood locations in Ohio, providing family planning, STI testing, and cancer screening services to hundreds of thousands of people. When Governor Kasich cut off federal funding to those clinics -- he’s made his priorities clear. We need to do the same.

Today I’m asking you to sign a petition calling on John Kasich to restore funding for Planned Parenthood -- click here to add your name.

Kasich saw his way to veto a provision exempting spider monkeys from our dangerous wild animal law. He said that was an “unjustified step backwards.” But evidently defunding Planned Parenthood is not an “unjustified step backwards.”

Governor Kasich used the power of his office to stand up for spider monkeys, but not for Ohio women and families? You can’t make this stuff up.

Let’s work together to put the pressure on John Kasich to restore federal funding for Planned Parenthood so Ohio women and families can always access the health care services they rely on.

Thank you.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

even though I am not from OH.  If you are from OH, this should be a priority for you.

Funding for Planned Parenthood is a hot button for me.  This agency is a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit providing women's health and reproductive services, especially to low-income women and families.  Sadly, Republicans have chosen to make an example of this organization, to cut its funding, just because of its association with lady parts, especially those parts that Republicans find so threatening.  All women, and all men who care about women's health, should be outraged at this.

Republicans who believe running an anti-women campaign is a winning strategy will be very surprised (again!!) in November, just as Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock and Ken Cuccinelli tripped over their own stupidity in 2012 and 2013.
