OMG, this is just too funny not to share. H/T Uppity Wisconsin for also noticing this.
For those unfamiliar, Wisconsin corporate media generally falls all over themselves pandering to Republicans. The most highly read newspaper in the state, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, is typical.
They promote their propaganda (like the Walker-friendly front page story today on Scott Walkers kick off of his 2014 campaign (as if he hasn't been campaigning and fundraising like crazy for the past 2 years) and tend to hide failings deep inside the paper or in online blogs if it's reported at all. They also tend to be very critical of opponents and not just on their pages, but in Journal Communications own RW radio station, but on the blog they own written by RW radio host Charlie Sykes, called Right Wisconsin (those "in the know" call it "White Wisconsin").
Well, they've been all over Walkers Gubernatorial challenger, Mary Burke, as expected. Walker, portrayed as a hero, and Burke, well, not so much.
They used another one of their arms, Wisconsin PolitiFact to label "false" another statement from Burke, this time on equal pay for women which was included in a campaign email (yup, they're so "in the tank" for Walker that they're scrounging for ways to deride Burke).
Says Gov. Scott Walker’s repeal of a 2009 law has left Wisconsin as "one of five states without an equal pay law protecting women from gender discrimination in their paycheck."
Now here's the LOL on their "false" rating;
the statement came from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel itself. That's right, it was taken
directly from an article in the newspaper that has now declared the statement false!
Here's the quote from the Journal-Sentinels own article:
Wisconsin is one of five states that have no equal-pay laws on the books. The other states are Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina and Utah.
Those statements, one from Burke and one from the Journal Sentinels own article are
the same.
And that statement didn't come out of a vacuum. It was part of a study that the article was reporting on from American Association of University Women. A study important enough to merit an article in the newspaper, albeit a small one.
But when Mary Burke quotes the study, or the article in the Journal Sentinel, she's rated false likely because .... Mary Burke said it. And they can't wait to keep labeling anything she says as "false" no matter if it's true or not.
Of course, this rank hypocrisy won't be exposed inside their pages, or elsewhere in Wisconsin media. So I present it to you here. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell your family, tell anyone who votes in Wisconsin or reads (and believes) the JS - they're full of it.

This space for rent until some other news comes to light.
