Oklahoma ranks at the bottom of every measure. It's dirt poor. It's people have poor rates of education. Their incomes are low. It's a bad place to live.
Oh, sure.
There are nice folks in Oklahoma and good people, and somehow people do manage to eke out a living. But they are the exception, rather than the rule.
There is no reason that Oklahoma should be so poor. It's not terribly geographically disadvantaged in the modern day of light-speed telecommunication and cheap long-distance travel. Oklahoma gets the same media the rest of the country does and largely, the same quality of Internet service. It's wired. There is no real reason that Oklahoma should not compete with neighboring states for jobs, security and standard of living.
Except that the political system there is determined to keep its people down.
Oklahoma is just one of those places ...
It doesn't provide for its residents.
It doesn't invest in an infrastructure for jobs.
It doesn't help its people get training for the jobs of the future.
It doesn't ... do anything.
It's a place where government thinks its duty is to punish people, rather than cultivate prosperity. And that is why it will always, always be poor.
If you live in Oklahoma, you should probably just move away, because you don't have much of a future. (Or you can rise up and throw these bums out, because you will not get anywhere as long as they are in power.)
