Reminder: March/Early-April HHS Report expected today; look for 7.78M as of 4/15

and at 1:36pm,

Holy Crap. CoveredCA just changed everything (again). New projection: 7.9 - 8.1M

From April 1-15, 205,685 consumers – including a one-day record of more than 50,000 on the final day – completed their applications and selected health plans through the Covered California exchange, bringing the total to 1,395,929 at the end of the historic, first open enrollment period. The total exceeds the base projection for Covered California for the entire six-month enrollment period by more than 815,929.
Then he updated his estimate on the front page to 8.03 million.

Also, Gallup says the rate of uninsured Americans fell to 12.9%, down from 18% just before the health care exchanges opened. More details below, plus good state numbers. They have not yet updated this graph, which runs through the first quarter.

The Mystery of RAND's odd numbers (Guest Post)

"Woodworker" poll results and my decision on the terminology

Woodworkers it is.

Texas: Baker Institute Survey suggests 760K exchange QHPs as of 3/15...NOT including kids!

Georgia: 3/31 total: 221.6K QHPs, in spite of Ralph Hudgens' best efforts to be a jerk (UPDATED)

Washington State: Total individual market grows 47K since September

South Dakota: 10.4K PAID QHPs, est. 54% previously uninsured

Texas (yes, Texas!): Nearly 178K enroll in Houston alone...thru 4/05

District of Columbia: "Final" 4/15 Tally: 10.6K QHPs, 19.2K Medicaid, 13.1K SHOP

Minnesota: Final 4/15 tally: 48.1K QHPs, 140.7K Medicaid, 1,300 SHOP

After yesterday's big data dump, no updates tonight. I still have to get the quotations from the other committee where Burwell will testify, but we have at least two weeks until they meet.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
