This is an Open Thread / Coffee Hour and all topics of conversation are welcome. Today's suggested topic is Earth Day. Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Numerous communities celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues.

Beyond the fold let me share some pictures from last Saturday in Vallejo where we had a Earth Day public information expo downtown next to the farmers market.

Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

  •  Dinner tonight is easy (8+ / 0-)

Burgers and fries. Dishes are done, garden is tended, floors are mopped and most of the kids' school work is ready for tomorrow. Draco's is the only one I have to finish, and he starts his in the afternoon so I'll have time in the morning if I need to to finish it up. The garden has sprouted, well the vegetables have, the herbs are going a bit slower, but the veggies are really taking off. I guess this is what happens with three days of misty rain and one of bright warm sun light. This week we're going to have to get some supports for the beans and peas.

  •  I miss street fairs, expos and outdoor markets (5+ / 0-)

    I suppose it's a trade-off for living in a rural area.
When we lived in Mesa, they did have street fairs and those were always fun and we even bought a beautiful magazine rack/small table with tile that we still have and everyone who has come over always admires it.
The only place I knew of back then that was an outdoor faux farmer's market was at the flea market and we rarely shopped there as the prices were outrageous and the produce not exactly fresh.
Like I said, it's a trade-off because we do enjoy the quiet and no traffic, except for the locals and an occasional lost tourist.
    Also love the wildlife.

Today's dinner was a salad topped with leftover turkey with sugar-free lemon pudding with fresh strawberries for dessert.

    Nice pictures, thanks!
