What is it with Republicans and their complete lack of capacity to accept the consequences of their actions or their comments?

Mr. Bundy in his latest triple down of his racist comments is now blaming Martin Luther King, Jr. If you are offended.  Yes you read that correctly.

You can read the story here

 http://talkingpointsmemo.com/...

Rachel Maddow pointed out last night you could see this coming a mile away (even if you were driving on a federal highway) . I just don't understand how a U.S. Senator (insert your favorite R here) could embrace a person who doesn't acknowledge the existence of the United States of America. I guess it is all about the visual of using the U.S. flag, singing the national anthem (of that country you don't recognize) and as always the guns and the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of that country you do not recognize.

Each one of these slimy enablers deserves their own ad with Mr. Bundy asking if there is any extremist they wouldn't embrace in their effort to demonize the U.S. government. Harry Reid was correct.

They have no shame.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

self-awareness and, having no self-awareness and no basis for comparison, they have no awareness of other people either. At best, they see other people as reflections of themselves but through a glass darkly. So, what it boils down to is that they are at sea, searching like a shark for dinner.
One does not expect sensitivity from a mosquito out for lunch. Humans lacking awareness are much the same.
But, it should be noted that a lack of self awareness does not preclude self-centeredness. The self-centered are, again, like the mosquito, driven by an instinct to preserve and serve themselves.

Our mistake is in hiring such people as public servants on the basis of their ability to mimic the speech of others.

Bundy is an old, racist, idiotic crank and a criminal.  He should now be ignored so law enforcement can deal with him and those militia goons unfettered.

Who should not be ignored are the Republican politicians and journalists who encourag(ed) this insurrection. Bundy did us favor (doesn't make him a hero) by drawing out and shining a light on the empty souls, lack of principle and absent intellect of many of our leaders, at all levels.  He drove home a point we have been making for years.  Do not let them go unchallenged.

It would be a greater injustice, in a way, to let them get away with their behavior than to let Bundy get away with his. There are traitors in our midst, and they work for us.

Or whatever his name is R-NV, I bet at this very moment is trying to figure out how to shut off the electricity to Bundy's microphone before he announces that he feels betrayed by his US Senator whom he voted for.

Someone should ask the Senator about any communication from Bundy. In my experience these type of nuts are usually letter writers. I bet he wrote asking for help against the big bad government.

waving a dead calf around. I kid you not.

CNN Host -- "Please sir -- put down the dead calf, it's early here, we have children watching and ..."

Bundy: "I will NOT!! Maybe those kids need to see the dead calf so's that they can."

CNN Host "Please sir -- just ... let's put the dead calf down"

    Bundy: "errr well ..."

Calf schlunks down to the ground out of camera view .. and the interview continues.

    OMG.

been able to "get his job done" if a gun totin' racist like Bundy hadn't assassinated him.  In Bundy's twisted mind, somehow I expect him to blame MLK for "making" someone shoot him, though.

Gah! The arrogance and ignorance of this man is astounding.

MLK was assassinated, and these folks then complain that he didn't get his job done. What twisted rules of logic and morality do these people inhabit?!?

But if the cause be not good, the king himself hath a heavy reckoning to make, ... there are few die well that die in a battle; ... Now, if these men do not die well, it will be a black matter for the king that led them to it; — Shakespeare, ‘Henry V’

I could write a diary on what this is all about.  The mentality that "civil rights" has grown far beyond the establishment of legal equality between black and white and is now aiming at reversing racial privilege and elevating blacks above whites - just like feminism.  Whites are allegedly being socialized to defer to blacks in all places and at all times: forbidden to judge or challenge any black person's speech or actions, forbidden to deny them anything they desire, and forbidden to defend oneself and one's property against the new black aristocracy's privileges and effortlessly wounded pride.

It really doesn't help that conservatives believe that all men are created unequal, so even if you deny that black people as a whole are inferior, it does not follow that a black person with less than a white person is the victim of that white person.

Domestic politics is the continuation of civil war by other means.

...there was that whole "being assassinated by someone with similar mentality to Bundy himself" thing.

That probably limited his actions somewhat.

America, we can do better than this...
