I set up the @BringGirlsBack Twitter account to help organise efforts and rallies to help rescue the 200+ kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls. But technical difficulties with Twitter are hindering my efforts...
I blogged earlier about the technical difficulties that I have been experiencing with Twitter: Why Twitter is blocking @BringGirlsBack and how followers make all the difference.
Yesterday, it got worse because twitter suspended my account altogether! They un-suspended it this morning and I still don't know why. The Twitter helpdesk has yet to reply to my enquiries.
It is very frustrating because I'd much rather spend my time and energy doing useful work for the poor schoolgirls than fighting silly technical difficulties and a buggy twitter software!
Many people noticed that @BringBackGirls got suspended. With no explanation from Twitter, many theories have been raised by some of my followers:
- I tweet with too many @ replies at the same time.
- My account was growing too quickly and was mistaken for a bot (I wish I didn't need to sleep, like any regular bot!)
- I sent too many Direst Messages.
- My email is still not confirmed (see previous blog entry for details why).
- ???
Your guess is as good as mine.
Well, today, I can use my account. It's un-suspended.
I am hoping it will last: I am still waiting for an answer from Twitter about the suspension and the technical difficulties.
Thank you very much everyone for your support for the poor Nigerian schoolgirls. Let's put back our time and energy on things that matter!
