This sort of thing just makes me crazy:
"TWO POLLS SHOW GOP EDGE IN GENERIC BALLOT TEST - CNN: "A small edge right now in a key indicator of the midterm elections could lead to a big advantage for the Republicans over the Democrats come November. "
And yet poll after poll on subject after subject shows that the population agrees with Democrats on most issues in most areas.
Why don't the democrats run generic ads across the country to show this? Ones on the economy that not only point out issues like unemployment and minimum wage but also show that democratic presidents have managed the economy better than republicans over the last half century or so? It isn't hard to do or hard to understand. Do another generic ad on social issues and points like evolution, climate science and other far right positions.
Republicans have a legacy perception advantage on the economy in that people think since they represent "business" they understand it better. And a lot of young people were taught to be Republicans by their parents and have never questioned it. Ads like these would make clear to people who don't follow politics much (the vast majority) the difference between TODAY'S political parties.
I can see a simple ad: Under the heading "American's Agree" a list appears one by one with checkboxes - bam, bam, bam, bam, bam and then "If you agree, vote Democrat" BOOM!
I just don't get it!
