I walked in Friday to discover that they were moving Bear to another hospital. I was slightly annoyed, as apparently plans had been in the works for a few days and no one had bothered to let me in on them. But the move made sense. He is healed enough from the heart surgery that he no longer needs the heart hospital's facilities; what he needs now is specialty care to get him off the ventilator and rehabbed enough to come home. And that is what this hospital does. So we got him moved yesterday, and here we are today, with him still asleep and me here watching him sleep, and posting this update to you all.
The fundraiser is at 66 percent....so close, and yet so far. If you can help at all, I would be endlessly grateful. http://www.gofundme.com/... is the link to donate. The backstory is below the orange swirl.
My husband Bear became unable to work three years ago, and a year ago, we had a water leak that ran our bill up to $2000. Anderson bundles their water and electricity bills, so before we could get any money together, they turned it all off....the gas and the internet too. We lived with my husband's father for nine months, but then he went into a nursing home....so we moved back to our home, and lived without utilities.
We were scraping along, putting a little here and there towards the big bill, but then he had what we thought was an asthma attack on May 27. It put him into the hospital, and he wound up having a quadruple bypass on May 5. He has also been diagnosed with insulin dependent diabetes and sleep apnea. He is currently still ventilator dependent, in a hospital in Indianapolis.
I can't bring him home without the utilities on; he's got to have electricity to run the CPAP machine, and his insulin will need refrigeration. If he is to eat properly to lose weight and keep his diabetes in check, I'll need the electricity and gas on, and the internet is our main source of news, connection, and entertainment in general, since we don't have a TV.
$2000 will pay off back bills and reconnect fees and all that sort of thing, and get lights on and water running. Any money over that will be saved to pay the gas bill off and the phone company, so that I can get internet at the house again.
