So you get to the polls in, say, California, and you are faced with 20 primary candidates and, hey, you've been too busy to follow all those races and have no way to tell who the progressive and environmental candidates are.
What do you do?
- A. Call your mom in another state and ask her who to vote for
- B. Download the Android Phone App, Vote99%, which shows all the candidates endorsed by the Sierra Club, League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn.org and Progressive Change Campaign.
- Go to Vote99pct.com and look up the candidates.
Vote99% android phone app and associated Vote99pct.com website is the labor of love by yours truly to parley the thousands of hours of work these progressive organizations do to vet candidates into a useful and accessible form for the rest of us.
OK...I bet the DailyKos readers are already following these candidates and perhaps don't need this app. But how many of you act as "information central" to your friends wondering who to vote for? If your experience is like mine, I'm thinking most of you.

Press Release:
Vote99% Election Phone App Released
Allows voters to identify candidates endorsed by progressive and environmental groups
Paia, HI May 21, 2014
Maui company, Redwood Games, released the Vote99% Android phone app to the the Google Play Store. Vote99% guides voters nation-wide in choosing between the many candidates on the ballot. Vote99% is aimed at progressives and those concerned about the environment. Voters enter their state and see a list of candidates who are endorsed by the Sierra Club, the League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn.org and Progressive Change Campaign Committee.
"We designed it to be small and to store its data on the phone so someone at the polls without internet connection can still look up their state's candidates," explains Chun who said that data is being updated daily during the pre-election season. The app refreshes itself when new endorsements are found.
The app is not yet available for iphones but the associated website, Vote99pct.com, can be displayed on iphones. Chun says that organizations whose endorsements are shown, spend "literally thousands of hours vetting candidates" and wants to leverage that knowlege for those who care about issues such as clean air, clean water, preserving Social Security and insuring equal access to the election box. The app is not associated nor supported by any of the endorsing organizations.
"It's a labor of love," says Chun who released Vote99% as a free app.
Redwood Games (RedwoodGames.com) of Pa'ia Maui, has been creating educational computer games and websites since 1990.
