We've had three or four recent diaries calling out various front page articles and attitudes. On the whole, I think they've led to some interesting discussion. Whether they will make any difference - well, that's to be seen. Who knows? It certainly doesn't hurt to have a well written counterpoint going.
But the reason for this diary is much simpler than the desire to show off how much I'm reading lately. I was googling for Ray Pensador, which I do about once a week. Hey, reading his diaries and trying to reply civilly was what took me from a sometime commenter to a full fledged pain in the ass on Daily Kos. Besides, I really want to catch his book, if and when it comes out. But I digress.
In any case, a link came up I hadn't noticed before, to Booman Tribune, which linked back to this 2005 diary.
It's still worth reading. With just a bit of editing to swap in current events and current pie fights, it could have been written in the last month. And that makes me happy, somehow. The climate is going ass over teakettle, the Cold War seems to be starting up again, income inequality hasn't been this much of a problem for almost a century, Republicans are starting to wonder how they got into the mess/morass they're in (duh!), and voting rights have taken a couple of solid punches. But, from the level and nature of the criticism, Kos and this site are still committing the same intransigent, dunderheaded mistakes they always have.
Stability. I like that. ;)
