Received this e-mail today from Chuck Hassebrook's (D. NE) gubernatorial campaign:
I’ve spent the last two weeks traveling all across the state, and the message I’m hearing loud and clear from Nebraskans is the same: there is too much anonymous, third party money and too many negative ads in Nebraska’s elections!
That’s why this morning I delivered a letter to my opponent’s campaign office, asking him to join me in signing the Nebraska Clean Elections Pact.
The pact asks each candidate’s campaign to:
Keep general election spending under $3 million
Stop hidden donors from assaulting Nebraskans with mudslinging ads
Limit negative advertising to statements candidates personally make themselves
Join me in urging Pete Ricketts to sign the Nebraska Clean Elections Pact by becoming a citizen co-sponsor!

The Nebraska Clean Elections Pact will only work if both parties agree to abide by every component. No candidate can unilaterally disarm and survive, so I will not pledge to take these steps alone. I am challenging Mr. Ricketts to agree to this Pact because it is the only practical way for Nebraskans to get the kind of campaign they want and deserve.
Elections are serious business, and Nebraskans deserve a campaign that respects the democratic process and is focused on solutions to the issues facing our state.
You can help ensure that we keep this election focused on the issues, rather than anonymous, negative attacks. Click here to become a citizen co-sponsor of the Nebraska Clean Elections Pact!

It is in that spirit that I have challenged my opponent to sign this Pact. I have already signed it and am committed to abide by it if he agrees, so that we can have a constructive campaign focused on meaningful, robust debates about our different visions for Nebraska’s future.
Thanks for your support,
Chuck Hassebrook
