Nancy Pelosi will be coming to do a fund raiser for Congressman Paul Tonko, NY 20 this Sunday June 1. There will be a session open to the public, according to the Times Union Capitol Confidential blog. Admission is free - but it's necessary to register ahead of time. It looks like the big theme is going to be issues of particular interest to women.

According to the TU blog,
House Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to speak in Albany Sunday afternoon at a event rallying for equal pay and other benefits for women in the workplace.
According to email blasts sent by the city’s RFK Democratic Club and Mayor Kathy Sheehan’s campaign, the California Democrat and former House speaker will be appearing at Davies Office Refurbishing on Loudonville Road. The event starts at 4 p.m.
Both Sheehan and U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko are expected to be there as well. The RFK club says the event is in support of the House Democrats’ economic agenda called “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds,” which calls for pay equity, increases to the minimum wage, expanded medical and family leave and better access to affordable child care.
Anyone interested in attending the public event should RSVP to paultonkovol@gmail.com
Afterwards, the headliners will be going to a private home nearby for the fund-raising part of the trip.
The event on Colonial Green will also feature U.S. Reps. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut and Doris Matsui and Jackie Speier of California, according to a copy of the invite obtained by CapCon.
Tickets run from $1,000 to $5,200.
The comments on the two
Times Union articles are… interesting. The GOP campaign to demonize Pelosi continues to bear fruit, as the saying goes. I thought I'd post this here in case anyone in the upstate New York area is interested in a chance to see and hear Pelosi in person. Interestingly, Andrew Cuomo will not be showing up, which considering this is just north of the state capitol is… telling.
UPDATE: I updated this to emphasize that issues affecting women are going to be prominent for this event. (Look at the list of speakers!) Depending on how well this is received, it could become a major Democratic theme for the Congressional campaigns out there.
