I am here at DKos because I thought this was a place for liberal-minded people to talk about building a better America.

Because I thought by working with other DKos community members, I thought we could move move liberal values forward. Fight income inequality. Protect the environment. Among many other things.

I am here because I thought people with different views should be able to agree on some things and come together for a common good. Not for tribal bickering and for people in one tribe, but not the other, to be silenced by site leadership.

I am here because we can't trust mainstream media and sometimes we have to report the news ourselves. But if the blog where we post do-it-yourself news reporting loses its credibility, it keeps those stories being ignored by corporate media from being taken seriously. The little guy loses.

I am here because the poor don't have a voice in politics, and blogs give them one. Money is speech, even in that party that's supposed to represent the working class but always seems to cave in to big business. What were they called again, the Dem, Demosomethings...

I am here because I supported Occupy, and thought people here did too. Guess I was wrong about that.

I am here because I thought this was a place for like-minded people to communicate. But all I see is factional fighting, with one faction favored by the site leadership.

I am here because I thought this was a place for information, intelligence, wit and caring.

I am here because I thought this was a place for liberals like me. I thought this was a community.

But when I talk about things I think are liberal, people yell at me and scream "why are you here?" I'm puzzled when they say I belong at Redstate, or even Stormfront.

This isn't an 80's video game where you go too far left and pop out on the right. This isn't a game period. Politics affects people. What happens here affect people. These are real people.

And I noticed that when people say anything that deviates from the mainstream, they disapp-

I am here because I thought I would like it here.

Guess I was wrong.

Why are you here?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
